The term '358' derives from its mesh size: 3" x 0.5" with an 8-gauge wire. In millimeters, this translates to 76.2mm x 12.7mm x 4mm, indicating a 4mm wire thickness.
The narrow mesh of the 358 safety fence makes it virtually impossible for objects to pass through. Its small mesh size is resistant to being cut with traditional hand tools.
