The term '358' originates from its mesh size, which measures 3" x 0.5". The '8' denotes the wire gauge, converting to a robust 4mm thickness. Thus, the dimensions of the 358 guardrail stand at 76.2mm x 12.7mm x 4mm.
The 358 safety fence features extremely narrow mesh, making it nearly impossible for objects to pass through. Its tight mesh design also renders it very difficult to cut using traditional hand tools.
